Phase II trials of Bharat Biotech's first intranasal vaccine against Covid-19, which is developed in collaboration with Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, began at the City's Prakhar hospital, Kanpur on Tuesday. 30 volunteers were administered the 1st dose of intranasal vaccine. Vaccine is dropped into a person's nostril and gradually enters into the respiratory tract. This vaccine's dose is repeated after 28 days, just like Covaxin, which is given twice in the same time frame. The vaccine would neutralise the virus in the nostril and prevent it from spreading further into the respiratory tract.
