125 members of the Hospital Board of India’s (HBI), Pune chapter have now revoked the cashless policy provided to corporate clients. Private insurance companies like Max Bupa, Star Health, ICICI Insurance and public insurance companies like New India Assurance Company, United India Insurance Company have corporate clients and the hospitals were directed to provide the cashless facility to these clients even though no contract was binding them to do so. Most of these corporate clients enjoy several privileges from insurance companies which include allowing to cover pre existing diseases within the policy.
Insurance companies are still waiting for an official notice from the HBI and stated that revoking of this facility will have a major impact on their whole industry.
