16 Italian tourists have tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday and the number of cases has jumped to 28 in India. The group of Italian tourists has been quarantined at an ITBP facility in New Delhi, said All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, New Delhi on Wednesday.
The development comes a day after an Italian tourist in Jaipur was tested positive for coronavirus and his wife showed initial symptoms of the virus. The Italian couple was part of a tourist group touring Rajasthan.
Now, 16 more Italian tourists, who were quarantined on arrival, have tested positive for the virus, confirmed AIIMS. All 16 Italian tourists have been kept at the ITBP facility in preventive isolation since Tuesday afternoon. It is worth mentioning that the concerned tourists will go through further rounds of medical examination as they have shown initial symptoms of the infection.
Till Tuesday, India reported 6 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including three from Kerala, who were initially tested positive and have recovered. Meanwhile, a man from New Delhi was also tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. Two schools in Noida subsequently suspended classes as some students of the schools attended a birthday party hosted by the same man. However, the school has now been declared coronavirus-free after a thorough check.
