Activities under the Department of Community Medicine, KEM Hospital
The following activities are carried out in the Community Medicine Department of KEM Hospital.

Yellow fever vaccination OPD:
Yellow Fever Vaccination OPD is functional in KEM Hospital since 26th March 2019. It is one of the six, Government of India authorized centre in Mumbai. Along with Yellow Fever vaccine, Oral polio vaccine is also given in this OPD on demand to International travellers.

Epidemiological Resource Centre:
This Research Protocol and Statistics Support Unit, is a separate unit within the department, which would take up the responsibility of provision of scientific technical support in development of research studies, data management and development of intelligence out of data.

Link ART Centre at Malvani UHTC:
Malwani UHTC provides medical services to an urban slum population of approximately 1.8 lac. The centre, is the first UHTC in the country to provide link ART services. Mumbai District AIDS Control Society (MDACS) supports this unit.

Upcoming course:
Fellowship in Infectious diseases: KEM Hospital has started MUHS Approved Fellowship course in “Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases” with intake of 2 fellows per year from 2020 onwards.

Research Projects currently going on:
1. DHR (MOHFW) and ICMR supported Project titled, Assessment of exposure and Impact of pesticides on general population.
2.DHR project: Costing of Health services in Different states of India.
3. ICMR study to evaluate the effectiveness of BCG vaccine in reducing Morbidity and Mortality in Elderly individuals in COVID-19 Hotspots in India.
4. ICMR study: Mental health and Social stigma among Healthcare Personnel involved in the management of COVID-19 patients in India.
