Adults who survive childhood cancer have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease than other adults, yet they are nearly twice as likely to be undertreated for cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol.
This increased cardiovascular disease risk may be mitigated with greater awareness among primary health care professionals about specific guidelines for adult survivors of childhood cancer and more emphasis by the survivors on managing their own health.
