Andhra Pradesh government hospital doctors are planning to protest for increasing their retirement age to 65 years. This comes after the Union government approved the proposal to increase the retirement age of doctors to 65 years for Central government and railway hospitals. This initiative was approved as the shortage of doctors was increasing. Doctors are handling cases at three to five Primary Health Clinics (PHCs) along with increasing pressure from state personnel, which becomes a burden. Representatives of Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors Association (APGDA) are preparing for an agitation in Vijayawada on October 24 so that the government meets their demands.
