In a significant proportion of these patients, elevated AP is benign, requiring no intervention. Elevated levels of ALP in the blood are most commonly due to the possibility of underlying hepatobiliary or bone diseases. Alkaline phosphatase may be elevated in conditions involved in bone formation or increased bone turnover.
