Chennai doctors remove giant hairball from girl’s stomach
A 13-year-old girl who has been pulling out and eating her own hair had a giant hairball removed by surgeons at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai.

The mentally challenged girl was diagnosed with trichophagia - a compulsive urge to eat hair.

"Parents were initially thinking that she was smelling her hair.
They didn't realise that she had been eating hair until they saw her scan reports," said paediatric surgeon Dr Prakash Agarwal.

Last week, when she started vomiting, her parents took her to doctors. Parents told the doctors that the girl had not been eating well and she had been losing weight for nearly a year. The girl weighed just 15kg, nearly half her normal weight....
