Depression a disability! Bombay HC relief to candidate in PG
Bombay high court on last Wednesday held a student suffering from anxiety and depression eligible for admission to Postgraduate Medical Course under persons with disability category.

The court admitted a petition filed by the student and granted interim relief based on reports of medical experts that stated the student had less than 40% mental health disability.

The student had sought HC intervention after being denied admission to PG medical course under persons with disability (PWD) category.

The student, through his advocate Pooja Thorat, had challenged the regulations framed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) on the ground that they were contrary to the Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016. The petition challenged legality of the notification dated March 13, 2019 issued by MCI which had amended Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations and made them applicable after admission process for the academic year 2019-20 had already commenced.

Then again if the court does believe the fact that the candidate isn' t stable enough mentally to sustain himself, is he by any means stable enough to treat patients? this is absurd!
