Doctors at a Nagpur Hospital conducted a therapeutic leukapheresis to save the life of a 24-year-old female patient suffering from Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. The patient has hyperleukocytosis, a condition where WBC counts are very high.

Leukapheresis is a procedure in which WBCs are separated from blood in the lab. It is a specific type of apheresis, the more general term for separating out one particular constituent of blood and returning the remainder to the blood circulation in human body.
