And if so, why is complement added to serum while incubation during TPI??

Dude....read the test name.....treponema pallidum immobilisation....the most basic thing in medicine is difference between blood , plasma and serum blood- cells +plasma plasma- protiens + matrix(since blood is a C.T) serum - only matrix without protiens thus no complement protien and Coagulation? protiens either in the test serum complements against T.P Ab are added(though i must add complements are non specefic in action and no special complement protiens are made for sp. Ab i used it just for explanation) if serum has T.P complement will act on it and render it immobile.....thus no movement seen in dark ground microscope which was previously mobile... Read more
