NPPA has issued a notice to 21 hospitals regarding the implementation of Orthopaedic Knee Implant System prices. These hospitals had not adhered to the previous directive of mentioning the new prices on their website homepage. Now, as per the notice issued on 10 October, the following steps need to be followed:

1. Within 3 working days, all hospitals/nursing homes/ clinics must display the MRP or Price of Knee Implant System at which they are charging/billing the patients along with brand name, specifications and names of manufacturing/marketing company on 'home page' of their website.

2. Within 7 days, the 21 hospitals have to provide an explanation for not adhering to the directions of the previous NPPA order.

3. Failing to act in accordance with the Drug Price Control Order 2013 is a punishable offense as per the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

It is to be noted that the NPPA had earlier issued a notice on 16th August 2017 to display the price list and the supplementary price list as furnished by the manufacturer/ importer, at the place of business so that it is easily accessible to any person wishing to consult the same.
