The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first quadrivalent, adjuvanted influenza vaccine for use in adults ages 65 and older released by Seqirus, a world leader in Influenza Vaccines.

Fluad Quadrivalent uses the same MF59 adjuvant technology as found in the company’s Fluad trivalent vaccine to generate a broad immune response. The new quadrivalent vaccine includes an additional strain of Fluad, which the FDA approved in 2015..

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that between 70% and 85% of seasonal influenza-related deaths occur in adults 65 years and older are at high risk for influenza-related complications each season and it is important to have influenza vaccines to help protect this vulnerable population.
