Artificial pancreas to manage type 1 diabetes will be offered to NHS patients after major trials. This device is expected to replace the regular finger-prick tests carried out to check their blood sugar levels and will prevent life-threatening hypoglycaemic attacks. The device can be worn at all times, including during sleep, and is completely waterproof.
