A new study by ICMR says that Covid-19 may infect a high proportion of pregnant women with preterm delivery and hypertensive disorders being the most common complications.The rate of pregnancy/foetal loss, including stillbirths, was 6%, preterm delivery was 16.3%, and hypertensive problems in pregnancy was 10.1% , according to data obtained from 4203 pregnant women during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study demonstrates the adverse outcomes including severe COVID-19 disease, pregnancy loss and maternal death in women with COVID-19 in the targeted population and recommends immediate medical attention towards Covid-positive pregnant women.
