Researchers say that people with cancer have an appropriate, protective immune response to COVID-19 vaccines without experiencing any more side-effects. The participants of the study comprised individuals without cancer, patients with cancer treated with immunotherapy, patients treated with chemotherapy and those treated with a chemo-immunotherapy combination. Results showed adequate levels of antibodies to the virus in the blood with 84% of patients receiving chemotherapy, 89% of patients receiving chemo-immunotherapy and 93% of patients on immunotherapy alone after 28 days of 2nd dose. These results were almost similar to individuals without cancer. Study highlighted the importance of ensuring complete, two-dose vaccination for patients with cancer.
