According to a study, women who take the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy pass high levels of antibodies to their babies. It was unclear whether this protection could pass from mothers to their infants before birth. After mothers were vaccinated with shots from Pfizer Inc.-BioNTech SE or Moderna Inc., 36 newborns tested at birth, all had antibodies to protect against Covid-19, according to the study. This is the first study to measure antibody levels in umbilical cord blood to distinguish whether immunity is from infection or vaccines.
