150 cases of Marburg virus disease have been reported in Guinea, including three family members and a health worker. It is transmitted between humans by the exchange of bodily fluids and is transmitted to people by fruit bats. This virus is a deadly cousin of Ebola virus, and is a very different virus from Sars-CoV-2. Many aspects of this virus's response are identical to those of Covid virus, such as isolation, tracing, and quarantining their contacts. There is no licensed vaccine for Marburg, although there are vaccines under development.
