The department of biotechnology (DBT) said on Tuesday that Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd, HGCO19 candidate, India's first mRNA-based Covid-19 vaccine, has been approved for phase 2/3 clinical trials. The interim phase 1 data of the vaccine showed that the HGCO19 vaccine was safe, tolerable, and immunogenic among the study's participants.
