Patients on hemodialysis who survived SARS-CoV-2 infection generated and retained antibodies, resulting in a lower risk of reinfection than patients who had not previously been infected. The development of antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in a cohort of 990 hemodialysis patients is described in this study. The capacity of antivaccine antibody responses to protect patients on hemodialysis should be continuously evaluated to determine efficacy, as patients with lesser responses may be at higher risk of reinfection.
