According to new research published in Circulation, the no-touch approach for vein harvesting decreased the likelihood of vein graft blockage and improved patient prognosis in CABG patients compared to the traditional harvesting technique. Researchers randomly allocated 2,655 patients undergoing CABG to a no-touch or traditional vein harvesting procedure. When compared to the traditional group, the no-touch approach resulted in lower vein graft occlusion at 3 months, and similar reductions at 12 months. The no-touch technique was also found to reduce angina recurrence after 12 months.
