Premature menopause can serve as a "marker or warning sign" that cardiologists should pay closer attention to traditional atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk factors. A total of approx. 16000 women took part in the study. Premature menopause was shown to be strongly related to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in both ethnicities, regardless of conventional risk factors, with Black women having a 24% higher risk and White women having a 28% higher risk.
