According to the WHO, Mu variant has mutations that could let it to evade protection conferred by a prior Covid-19 infection or immunisation. This new variant was first discovered in Colombia and has now been confirmed in at least 39 countries. On Aug. 30, the WHO added “Mu,” also known as B.1.621 by scientists, to its list of variants “of interest”. More research is needed to determine whether the mu strain will prove to be more contagious, deadly, or resistant to current vaccines and treatments.
