Hairy Eyeball
A 20 year old Gujarati boy presented in the OPD with a complaint of mass in his eye (just below the pupil). He mentioned that he had had it since his birth, but last year it had grown in size to about quarter of an inch (0.64cm) and had now started sprouting hair.
On investigation, a diagnosis of Limbal Dermoid was made. It is a rare condition. Mostly benign, it may grow cartilage, hair or even sweat glands.
Excision is not normally required, but in this case it was excised.
