World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. This year, World Sight Day will take place on 8 October 2020 with the theme: Hope In Sight.

CAUSE OF REDUCED EYESIGHT:

• Diseases like diabetes and trachoma, trauma to the eyes, or

• Conditions such as refractive error, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration or glaucoma.

HOW TO PROTECT EYES DURING COVID-19?

Guarding your eyes — as well as your hands, nose, and mouth — can slow the spread of coronavirus. Here are some ways to you can keep your eyes safe and healthy during this coronavirus outbreak.

• If you wear contact lenses, consider switching to glasses for a while

• Wearing glasses may add a layer of protection

• Avoid rubbing your eyes

• Practice safe hygiene and social distancing
