The IMA recently held a meeting with the inter-ministerial committee of nine ministries, including the Union Health Minister and suggested that at least 5% of the GDP should be spent on healthcare services in the country, specifically to create measures to prevent violence against doctors. Certain funds must also be utilized to prevent corporatization of the medical sector. The IMA also demanded that the Centre should initiate a “Treat in India” initiative to boost and promote healthcare in remote and rural areas...
