With 6,977 cases in the last 24 hours, coronavirus cases in India have increased to 1,38,845, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

This marks the biggest one-day jump in cases in India for the fourth day in a row. India also recorded 154 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 4,021. The number of active cases stands at 77,103. The number of reported coronavirus cases in India rose nearly 11 percent over the past two days to 101,139.

At 24,167, Maharashtra leads in terms of the number of active cases. Next on the list is Tamil Nadu with 6,974 active cases, followed by Gujarat, with 6,221 patients still under treatment. Delhi is fourth on the list with 5,409 active cases and Madhya Pradesh fifth with 2,326

It is impressive that this problem is even now nowhere close to being solved. Even with the lack of testing and rules by Governments forbidding testing of asymptomatic patients,the huge numbers indicate the real number of positive people are simply too much higher.
