Ischemic injury to CNS characteristically causes liquefactive necrosis and NOT coagulative necrosis. Whereas , generally, Ischemic injury to other organs like heart, kidney, spleen causes coagulative necrosis.

Coagulative vs liquefactive is very interesting... according to Robbins coagulative necrosis only occurs if along with structural proteins the enzymes are denatured..
