In a week of introducing online bidding for 1,221 specialised posts in state-run hospitals in Karnataka, the government has received at least 880 applications. There are still 1,035 posts vacant but this process has been somewhat successful given all previous efforts were not met with adequate responses. Yadgir district tops the bidding list with as many as 164 applications, followed by Bengaluru Urban district with 93 applications. The government has begun scrutinising the proposals. However, the Karnataka Government Medical Officers' Association (KGMOA) is sceptical about the bidding process given that doctors are quoting way more than what they actually earn which could demotivate doctors currently working in government hospitals...
