Karnataka government's online recruitment drive has hit another roadblock. The drive was started to fill the shortage of specialists in district and taluk hospitals as well as the community health centres where the specialists could seek the desired remuneration to work in the rural area but the demands and expectations have made the process difficult. The reasons cited by doctors for refusing government offer post-interview include not undertaking post-mortem, night-shifts, and emergency. The salary bids range from Rs 60,000 to Rs 6 lakh and have received over 5,262 applications for the 1,212 posts from all over the state. In Bengaluru rural district, 181 doctors applied for eight posts, 67 doctors were called for an interview while in Tumakur district, 109 applications were received for 22 posts. 19 were selected for an interview, but only seven took up the offer. Despite such a great response, only a few doctors were actually interested in jobs...
