Kerala HC issues guidelines on guardianship of comatose peop
The Kerala High Court issued guidelines for dealing with the properties of persons lying in the comatose state in a case filed before the bench.

A Division Bench comprising Justice P R Ramachandra Menon and Justice N Anil Kumar issued the order on petitions filed by the families of patients in comatose state seeking to appoint a guardian for dealing with property related assets.

The Division Bench said that the condition of the patient lying in the comatose state shall be ascertained by a medical board, of which one qualified neurologist should definitely remain a part of the board.

The bench listed all requirements for appointment of a guardian with responsibilities attributable to officers. It has also listed situations where court can proceed for action against the guardian.
