LIVE update : Union Budget 2017-2018 on Healthcare
Here are the implications of Union Budget 2017-18 for healthcare presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Lok Sabha today:

1. Government proposes to eliminate Kala Azar by 2017, Leprosy by 2018, Measles by 2020 and Tuberculosis by 2025
2. Infant Mortality Rate aimed to be reduced from 39 to 28 in India
3. 1.5 lac health sub-centres to be transformed into Health Wellness Centres
4. Additional 5000 seats per annum for Post-graduation to facilitate adequate availability of specialised doctors for secondary and tertiary hospitals across the nation
5. The government will encourage big District Hospitals, Private Hospitals, and Government Hospitals to roll-out DNB courses.
6. Two new AIIMS Hospitals to be set up in Jharkhand and Gujarat
7. New rules to be formulated for medical devices in regards to reduce the costs of such devices
