Esophageal carcinomas are highly malignant tumors with a high frequency of lymph node and distant organ metastasis. Treatment for recurrent tumors is generally decided on an individual basis. Although multidisciplinary treatments involving chemotherapy, surgical resection, and radiation are performed, the prognosis remains poor.
