Lupin gets USFDA nod to market generic anti-bacterial drug

US health regulator has given a nod to Lupin Ltd to market a generic version of Flagyl tablets. These tablets will be used to treat bacterial infections. USFDA has also given its final approval to the company to market metronidazole tablets in strengths of 250 mg and 500 mg.

The product is a generic version of G.D. Searle LLC’s Flagyl tablets. According to a survey conducted in June 2017, Flagyl tablets had sales of $44.1 million in the US market.
