MCI Board Of Governors to have 12 members: Union Cabinet Cle
The Union Cabinet on June 12 approved a bill for supersession of the Indian Medical Council for a period of two years during which the board of governors will run the regulatory body for medical education.

The Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was approved at a Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to replace the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Second Ordinance through an act of Parliament. The bill will be introduced in the upcoming session of Parliament.

The move will ensure transparency, accountability and quality in the governance of medical education in the country, an official statement said.

The number of members in the BoG will be increased from existing 7 to 12, the statement stated.

MC I had to go but weather board of governors will carry the show with more dignity and purpose is yet to be seen, just opening of new medical colleges is not going to improve the health system we must have quality doctors and not just the numbers. by quality I mean the aptitude and dedication and not the degrees
