#MDTalks: What Was Special About Your Doctor's Day?
Every year, July 1 is observed as National Doctors’ Day in the memory of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, who had his birth and death anniversary on the same day. The day, commemorated by Indian Medical Association (IMA), is dedicated to all the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving people by risking their lives. Dr Roy, former Chief Minister of Bengal, was known for his selfless service.

National Doctor’s Day is observed to acknowledge the role doctors play in saving numerous lives.

Amid the pandemic, the role of frontline workers has been even more emphasized. Cheers to the spirit and dedication of our frontline workers who immensely contributed in the hour of crisis.

So in the middle of the pandemic, how did you celebrate your doctor's day, and What was special about your doctor's day?

Becoming a doctor was my dream. But I ended up in Dentistry due to a small gap of score and financial condition. Currently I am in 3rd Year BDS. People always make joke on dentists that they are not ' real doctors' . So, I was quite sad that day about not being able to do MBBS. I also got some messages on dentists not being real doctors that day. But those messages were from the people who are not even a part of medical profession. In fact, my friends who are pursuing MBBS wished me with their whole heart on that day. And I really understood that it all depends upon the mentality and the way we see the world. I don' t know if I' ll become a real doctor after taking BDS degree or not, but these MBBS buddies of mine are doctors by heart, for sure! ❤... Read more
