MVR cancer centre launch in Kerala
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the MVR Cancer Centre and Research Institute (MVRCCRI), an initiative of the CARE Foundation and the Calicut City Service Cooperative Bank, at Chathamanagalam here on Tuesday.

The Rs. 350-crore centre, set up in memory of late Communist Marxist Party (CMP) leader M.V. Raghavan, is located on a 15.5-acre campus and will offer free treatment to 30 per cent of the patients.

The 400-bed speciality hospital functions with 30 departments including medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine in a 7.5-lakh sq. ft building. It will have eight state-of-the-art operation theatres and world-class research facilities. The centre will provide relief to thousands of cancer patients in Malabar. “The project has been completed in 14 months, a record in Kerala’s building and care-giving history,” said MVRCCRI chairman C.N.
