Perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas) are mesenchymal neoplasms that comprise angiomyolipoma, lymphangioleiomyomatosis, clear cell “sugar” tumor of the lung, and similar tumors arising in visceral sites, bones, and soft tissues termed PEComas not otherwise specified (PEComas-NOS).A 46-year-old woman presented with menorrhagia and pelvic pain. Pelvic examination and the ultrasonogram were consistent with a 14-week fibroid uterus. Papanicolaou smear and endometrial biopsy results were negative for malignancy. The patient was initially given leuprolide acetate. She presented 2 months later with worsening pelvic pain.She underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy....
