There are many conditions that may be complicated by massive hemoptysis, including pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, necrotizing pneumonia, aspergilloma, and lung neoplasm.Cardiovascular conditions that lead to pulmonary venous hypertension can cause cardiac hemoptysis. In most instances, pulmonary edema will occur bilaterally; in rare cases, focal imbalance leads to the development of unilateral or lobar edema.
