Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia continues to be a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in intensive care settings. The most critical determinants of survival and reduction of complications are early identification of bloodstream infection, combined with the initiation of timely and appropriate antibiotic therapy. Early recognition, prompt initiation of appropriate antibiotics, and rapid microbiological diagnosis are, therefore, key components of effective clinical management.
