Multiple Fat Emulsion Promises Better PN
The arrival of a new IV fat emulsion could prove a welcome option for patients needing parenteral nutrition (PN).

Designed in the early 2000s to follow the Mediterranean diet, Fresenius Kabi’s SMOFlipid (lipid injectable emulsion) delivers a combination of omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids that some experts suggest could decrease inflammation, liver disease and other conditions linked with a long-standing go-to formula made primarily of soybean oil.
