The NIMHANS has come out with guidelines for general medical and specialised mental health care, noting that the COVID-19 outbreak threatens to weaken the already fragile mental health system across the country.

While this has recently been highlighted, little has been offered to ensure their mental health and well-being.

Most people working in health care emergencies are likely to experience some stress. Some of them may experience distress to the point of not being able to carry on. They require help. It is critical to ensure that those in need are identified early and offered an appropriate intervention.

So, here's a brief outline of guidelines laid by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences.

Note: This presentation is a brief compilation of some of the key recommendations included in the Guideline and is not exhaustive and does not constitute medical advice.
