New monoclonal antibody treatments in Retina

I found two things really interesting and to look forward to..

1)Lampalizumab for dry AMD.. As there is no treatment for dry AMD patients which is the commoner form of AMD

Lampalizumab (Roche)
-It is antigen binding fragment of a humanized monoclonal antibody
-directed against complement factor D (which is a rate limiting enzyme in the activation of alternate complement pathway which is implicated in pathogenesis of AMD)
-inhibition of alternate complement pathway.. Leads to slowed Geographic atrophy progression and preservation of vision
-intravitreal injection monthly
-Studies : MAHALO, CHROMA and SPECTRI

2) sustained delivery implant of Ranibizumab( LADDER trial).. As it will definitely reduce load of monthly injections for patients..
