Notice to diagnostic centre over kickbacks for references
The Telangana state medical council (TSMC) has issued its first notice to a diagnostic centre at Kakaji Colony in Warangal.
This may be the first of a series of such notices as the Telangana chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has drawn up a list of 12 diagnostic scanning centres in Hyderabad, accusing them of giving commissions to middlemen.

Touts get anywhere between `2,500 to `3,500 on an average for MRI and `1,500 to `1,800 for CT scan.

Under rule 6.4.1 of Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002, doctors are prohibited from giving commissions to any person or accepting commissions from any person for any services rendered to patients.
