Researchers at University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia have developed a microscopic vaccine delivery platform called Nanopatch which enhances responses to all three types of inactivated poliovirus vaccines (IPV). Instead of targeting the muscles, it targets the abundant immune cell populations in the skins outer layers which makes it a more efficient delivery system.

Ease of administration coupled with dose reduction and low cost compared to oral doses or syringes could increase the availability of IPV and facilitate door-to-door and mass vaccination campaigns...
