Odisha govt gives nod to promotion scheme for state doctors
Odisha government has given their approval for implementation of the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme, ensuring promotion to doctors in Odisha.

The new provisions allow Odisha Medical and Health Service (OMHS) cadre officers with 3 assured promotions after 7, 14 and 21 years of continuous services from their entry level.

The long-standing call for implementing promotion scheme was held by Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) that had earlier sought 4 assured promotions after 4, 9, 13, and 20 years of the career; in accordance with Central government rules.

“We accept as true with the state government determination,” OMSA president Nirakar Bhatt stated after the government's approval. The OMSA president with their team members expressed their happiness by extending a vote of thanks to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

It is expected that around 2000 doctors out of 3600 medical doctors within the state shall receive advantages under the brand new DACP scheme.

Apart from availing promotions and allowances in due time, the scheme shall also help to prevent the exit of doctors from government services and make it lucrative for younger doctors to join government services when vacancies arise.
