Last week we took a poll to find out doctor's opinions on "Use of antibiotics & leftover medications by patients without consultation?"
And as a response 252 doctors & medical students took the poll, out of which 62.3% of were doctors & 37.7% of were medical students.
Major specialties that participated were General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dentistry, and others.
The majority of participants 'frequently' came across patients who use antibiotics & leftover medications by patients without consultation.
We have analyzed the results and are presented in the primer attached below.
Here’s a snippet of their opinions, in their own words…
"Almost always patients self medicate for DENTAL pain and visit when it becomes resistant." ~ Dentistry
"Unfortunately patient manages to get antibiotics without prescriptions, consume, and come to us when they do not get the results." ~ Internal Medicine
"When I asked about why you took antibiotics without prescription they[patient] used to say last time for the same problem you prescribed these medicines so this time I took for the same and why to pay consultation fee again and again for the same issue. " ~ Paediatrics
