An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that grows outside the womb. In the UK, one in 90 pregnancies result in an ectopic pregnancy, with an estimated 11,000 ectopic pregnancies diagnosed each year. Most ectopic pregnancies occur in the fallopian tubes, however, 3-5 out of 100 ectopic pregnancies occur in other places such as the cervix or neck of the womb, ovary or abdomen.
