Among all possible tumors of the heart, cardiac metastases most frequently involve melanoma. Though melanoma is the most frequent cause, cardiac metastases are still considered a rare event. However, cardiac metastases were diagnosed in less than 1% of cases due to asymptomatic presentation in the majority of these patients. Patients where a cardiac metastasis is discovered antemortem often present foremost with symptoms of metastasis in other areas, most commonly gastrointestinal.
