Robotic surgery holds out hope for reducing mother and child
Robotic surgery and colour Doppler ultrasound hold great hope in ensuring safe pregnancies and in reducing mother and child mortality in obstetrics and gynaecology, said Pankaj Desai, an obstetrics and gynaecology expert and former dean of students, Baroda Medical College. Dr. Desai was inaugurating ‘OG QUEST - 2017’ at Sri Ramachandra University on Monday, a press release said.

Already used by some hospitals, this technology, used in endoscopic surgeries, can be more precise and less complicated for the mother and baby. For fibroids and tumours in the uterus and in endometriosis, endoscopic robotic surgery would be a better option for patients, he said, adding however that the technology was still expensive and it would take time for it to be available to all....
